Whether we’re building a staircase for a busy school that will support generations of young footsteps, or making an elegant spiral that becomes a striking feature for a chic city restaurant, staircases have always been a firm favourite for Icon Fabrications.
We can assist with the design to the clients specification and to ensure that you get the quality and practicality associated with steel stairs while also ensuring a distinctive modern look, we can take care of the entire staircase project. On-site installation is undertaken by our own team of specialist architectural fitters making a complete start to finish service that ensures the smooth running of all contracts.

Sculptures: A labour of love
Zizzi’s restaurant chain is associated with urban chic so when the company required a staircase to make the most of its Glasgow space. Our curving steel and wood design with offset handrails certainly ticks that box, but it also helps maximise the space available on the ground floor.
Specialising in bespoke staircases and offering our clients a one-stop shop, we can design and install the entire staircase, regardless of the materials required. We have installed many staircases in the leisure industry, including restaurants, as well as in apartments, schools and offices.
Scientific Headquarters: The Jack Copland Centre
When the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service moved to its new national headquarters at Heriot-Watt University Research Park, it was a proud moment for us too.
The Jack Copland Centre delivers a first rate service in the processing, testing, supply, research and development of blood and human donor tissues and cells, consolidating several core activities and services on one purpose-built site.
Icon Fabrications designed, built and installed the main staircase in this modern building, playing our part in this hugely important Scottish service. We are delighted that doctors and scientists will follow in each other’s footsteps up and down our staircase!
Boroughmuir High School: Stairs for the next generations.
A school staircase may sound like a run of the mill job for Icon Fabrications, but this staircase is the main focal point of the new school.
Naturally, our design, build and installation teams take pride in all their work, and Boroughmuir is just one example among many of the fine and functional staircases we have installed at schools throughout the country.
